Amit Gupta


Amit Gupta is a writer and director for theatre, film and television. His family owned and ran a restaurant in Leicester for many years, just down the road from a local Indian cinema. "Jadoo", his second feature film, was born out of this experience.

His first film, "Resistance", starred Andrea Riseborough and Michael Sheen and was released in the UK in November 2011 to much critical acclaim. It was nominated for a Writers? Guild of Great Britain Award for Best First Feature Film as well as for three Bafta Cymru Awards, winning one for Best Actress. Empire Magazine wrote of it 'A beautiful, elliptical war film with the haunting qualities of a ghost story. Riseborough is terrific and Gupta proves he's a talent to watch.?

Amit is currently working on a feature adaptation of the acclaimed novel "Gifted" by Nikita Lalwani, with Producer Hilary Bevan Jones.
